WYSA is thrilled as we begin our 2nd full year of the Valley Revolution travel (competitive) program!
Valley Revolution teams train throughout the year and compete in local competitive leagues (UAYSL: United Anchorage Youth Soccer League and APL: Alaska Premier League, and tournaments.
Michael Green, WYSA Technical Director, will be directing both the competitive & developmental program. (Please see BIO)
Tryouts will be held in August 2013 to form teams in age divisions where there are enough quality players for a full roster. Supplemental tryouts may be held in the winter and spring to add players to the rosters of these teams. These teams train throughout the August 2013 - August 2014 soccer year and participate in local competitive leagues and tournaments.
Travel Program Prices & Schedules will be made available to invited players in the Valley Revolution Players' Packet. All players who are not invited to teams are highly encouraged to register for the Fall Outdoor Developmental Programs, as they will receive training that will prepare them for future travel teams, and will have the potential to be invited to teams mid-season.

Here are a few Valley Revolution program details to assist parents in determining if this program is the right fit for their player and family...
Travel vs Competitive:
We find that the term "competitive" is used locally, often inaccurately, to describe a level of play for young teams and players. Competition will naturally be present whenever there is a contest with a winner. So recreational, developmental and travel soccer, are all competitive. However the difference between these three programs is the type of coach (volunteer vs licensed), training environment (including session duration, frequency, and activities) training calendar/cycle, and travel distance necessary to find appropriate quality of match play. Valley Revolution travel teams will be composed of players who not only have natural athletic ability, but are committed to training to acquire necessary skills to be successful on the pitch, and are committed to traveling distances appropriate for age division and level of development. We will be referring to Valley Revolution teams as travel teams, as the term competitive more specifically refers to players who are age 12 and older.
Travel Soccer teams are formed for the entire soccer year. After player evaluations at tryouts, players will be sent invitations to join the team or a suggestion to participate in the WYSA developmental program, or other appropriate alternative. Then the invited players must reply to the invitation, committing to participate with the team until Alaska State Cup in August 2014. There are 3 seasons: Fall, Winter, Summer.
Multi-Sport Player Guideline:
If your player participates in multiple sports throughout the year, but wishes to be rostered on a Valley Revolution travel team there are several options. All players should attend tryouts to be considered for spot on roster for any or all seasons. If your player would like to play another sport, #1 they can train and play league games as their schedule permits, #2 they can train but not play league games, #3 they can register for clinics like goalkeeping & foot skills to keep their touch, or #4 they can take the season off with no training or games, but then must be re-evaluated to be added back to the roster at a later season. We may make exceptions, but only if the parent communicate with us regularly so that we can make necessary organizational and financial decisions for teams.
We have some exciting travel opportunities in the works and are planning a great year! Tentative schedules and fee list will be available at tryouts.
Player invitations include costs estimates, to aid families in their decision to accept spot on team. You my also email email@example.com for estimated costs based on your child's age/division.
